Planning a date is not as simple as it used to be. With the added pressure of social media updates, prying text messages and photo opportunities, it can seem impossible to get things right. Dinner and a movie is an old classic for a reason, and whilst there are hundreds of people that will raise their eyebrow at you and call you cliché for pulling this date combo out of your hat, there are so many more that will breathe a sigh of relief. For some reason, there’s nothing more romantic than an Audrey Hepburn movie and this tale of a princess gone undercover is a great film to watch with a first date. Don’t be afraid to get wrapped up in the moment, either; that’s what movies like these are all about.
Nothing does it quite like a classic movie on a date and you don’t get much more classic than the original Casablanca. The film is worth it for the love affair played out by Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall alone and if your date isn’t crying by the time As Time Goes By rolls around, they’re officially dead inside.
